Most US visas need an interview at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. A correct DS-160 form, the right documents and good interview preparation make a real difference.
Ethiopia has been part of the U.S. visa bond program since 2 April 2026. According to the U.S. Embassy, Ethiopian applicants who are found eligible for a B1/B2 visa must post a bond of up to US$20,000 before the visa is issued. Pay only on the website the consular officer gives you, and only after the officer tells you to. The bond is refunded when the rules are followed – for example, when you leave the US on time. It does not apply to student (F and M) visas.
